This is a beautiful hand-polished Koroit Matrix Queensland Boulder Opal talisman pendant, hand-set in a 925 sterling silver bail. It is completely natural and one-of-a-kind. It has been handcrafted by us here at Platypus Dreaming in the beautiful rainforests of Kuranda, QLD Australia, Ngunbay Djapukai country. It has plenty of different colours including fire red. All opals are hand-polished by us, in our unique artistic style. This talisman features a 1000 pure silver bead that has been hand-cut and chiseled using traditional methods.

This is a SOLID OPAL – it is not a doublet or triplet!! Before you purchase any opal, please check what it means! Do your own search! In any opal website, this natural piece is normally valued at $1400 at least. It is an intense opal with lots of red (fire) on it.

Koroit Opal comes from a particular area in Queensland. They are famous for their deep strong ironstone with stunning patterns and inclusions. It is a type of boulder opal, and is found as part of a host rock, called Boulder ironstone. The opal is distributed throughout the rock. This is what makes Kaya’s job of cutting the opal such a fine art—the opal is “slivered” throughout the stone and ten seconds too long at the wheel can destroy the colour completely! The finished result is boulder ironstone with the precious opal inclusions cut as one piece. It gives an dazzling appearance similar to what you see when you look at the night sky, except that the ‘stars’ in this case are flecks of glorious and intense opal colour.

Can I shower with this talisman?

Absolutely! These pieces are designed for surfers, swimmers, and alike. They can be worn in the shower, and/or when swimming – and the colours will not fade. Our talismans have proven their durability in our rainforest home against the elements of sun, water, humidity, and heat.

How do I care for my crystal talisman?

Platypus Dreaming creations are handcrafted using the highest quality waxed strings on earth. They are designed to be long lasting and with the right care, they will maintain their original shape and colour for years to come. These talismans are water resistant and feel very organic when worn against the skin. All stones have different hardness levels so please be gentle and treat them with the right level of care. Each piece is designed with longevity in mind. We only use silver and/or stainless-steel beads which will never rust or loose colour.

How do I cleanse my crystal talisman?

We recommend a gentle rinse under fresh water – preferably rain or river water. Moonlight also works beautifully, as does smoke, i.e. sage, or Palo Santo. You can also use other crystals to energetically clear your talisman, such as an amethyst cluster. Some crystal talismans benefit from being cleaned regularly as they are carriers of energy. Others, such as moldavite, are independent beings and do not need cleansing. Where do you get your stones from?

We have been travelling the world for 15+ years to source exotic and interesting gemstones. Wherever possible, we travel directly to the source, to develop a first-hand relationship with the people who take the stones from the Earth. This ensures we are familiar with the processes involved when extracting the stones from Earth; and that stones are ethically hand-collected with great respect and care.
