This is a dazzling hand-polished completely natural Queensland Boulder Opal and Mara Mamba Tiger Eye crystal talisman. Mara Mamba is an exceptionally rare variety of Tiger Eye, found only in the Hamersley Ranges in the Pilbara region of Western Australia – one of the most isolated and wild places on Earth. Marra Mamba Tiger Eye is highly chatoyant because it often contains hematite and Jasper.All opals are hand-polished by us, in our unique artistic style.

This vibrant crystal talisman has been handcrafted by us here at Emu Dreaming, in the luscious rainforests of Far North Queensland, Australia.

Boulder Opal comes from a particular area in Queensland, near the outback towns of Winton, Koroit and Opalton. They are famous for their deep strong ironstone with stunning patterns and inclusions. This is a SOLID OPAL – it is not a doublet or triplet! Before you purchase any opal, please check what it means! Do your own search! Cutting opal is a fine art —the opal is “slivered” throughout the stone and ten seconds too long at the wheel can destroy the colour completely! The finished result is boulder ironstone with the precious opal inclusions cut as one piece. It gives an dazzling appearance similar to what you see when you look at the night sky, except that the ‘stars’ in this case are flecks of glorious and intense opal colour.

Tiger Eye is a mysterious stone that offers a greater perspective and wider observation to the wearer. In ancient times, Tiger Eye was mandatory for chiefs to remove the influence of evil and negativity in decision-making. Tiger’s eye stone is an interplay between the powers of the Earth and Sun. Their characteristic golden bands draw down the energy of the sun, while its muddy, brown veins ground it in natural earthen energies. The Egyptians extended this association further, perceiving these colourations as representative of Ra, the Sun God and Geb the god of growing land.

Please note- there is no way to capture opals colour and the intensity varies with different lighting. Opal flashes many different colours at different angles. Each talisman is hand-woven using the highest quality waxed cords on Earth. These have a soft and organic feel against the skin, and are ideal for those who prefer an alternative to metal.

Talismans can be adjusted to your desired length with our sturdy slide-knot clasp system. It fits both men and women comfortably.

Using Your Talisman

Absolutely! These pieces are designed for surfers, swimmers, and alike. They can be worn in the shower, and/or when swimming – and the colours will not fade. Our talismans have proven their durability in our rainforest home against the elements of sun, water, humidity, and heat.

Platypus Dreaming creations are handcrafted using the highest quality waxed strings on earth. They are designed to be long lasting and with the right care, they will maintain their original shape and colour for years to come. These talismans are water resistant and feel very organic when worn against the skin. All stones have different hardness levels so please be gentle and treat them with the right level of care. Each piece is designed with longevity in mind. We only use silver and/or stainless-steel beads which will never rust or loose colour.

We recommend a gentle rinse under fresh water – preferably rain or river water. Moonlight also works beautifully, as does smoke, i.e. sage, or Palo Santo. You can also use other crystals to energetically clear your talisman, such as an amethyst cluster. Some crystal talismans benefit from being cleaned regularly as they are carriers of energy. Others, such as moldavite, are independent beings and do not need cleansing. We have been travelling the world for 15+ years to source exotic and interesting gemstones. Wherever possible, we travel directly to the source, to develop a first-hand relationship with the people who take the stones from the Earth. This ensures we are familiar with the processes involved when extracting the stones from Earth; and that stones are ethically hand-collected with great respect and care.
