This is a super rare new found blue green opalised wood crystal talisman, handcrafted by us here at Platypus Dreaming in Far North Queensland, Australia. This incredible mineral was only discovered in 2018, near the slopes of three volcanoes in Indonesia’s West Java Province. What the miners actually found was an ancient petrified forest (how cool is that?), which had been pushed over by the deluge of “stuff” (pyroclastic flow) from a volcanic explosion. Then, over the ages, the wood was fossilized and preserved by opaline silica. The water in that silica was very rich in dissolved copper, iron, and manganese. Those copper and manganese deposits are now found inside this blue opal. This talisman also features a 1000 pure silver tribal bead that has been hand-cut and chiseled using traditional techniques.

Using Your Talisman
Absolutely! These pieces are designed for surfers, swimmers, and alike. They can be worn in the shower, and/or when swimming – and the colours will not fade. Our talismans have proven their durability in our rainforest home against the elements of sun, water, humidity, and heat.
Platypus Dreaming creations are handcrafted using the highest quality waxed strings on earth. They are designed to be long lasting and with the right care, they will maintain their original shape and colour for years to come. These talismans are water resistant and feel very organic when worn against the skin. All stones have different hardness levels so please be gentle and treat them with the right level of care. Each piece is designed with longevity in mind. We only use silver and/or stainless-steel beads which will never rust or loose colour.
We recommend a gentle rinse under fresh water – preferably rain or river water. Moonlight also works beautifully, as does smoke, i.e. sage, or Palo Santo. You can also use other crystals to energetically clear your talisman, such as an amethyst cluster. Some crystal talismans benefit from being cleaned regularly as they are carriers of energy. Others, such as moldavite, are independent beings and do not need cleansing. Wherever possible, we travel directly to the source, to develop a first-hand relationship with the people who take the stones from the Earth.
