This is a dazzling handcrafted Fairy Opal crystal talisman. An ultra-colourful very thick sized stone! It has been handcrafted by us here at Platypus Dreaming in the beautiful rainforests of Kuranda, QLD Australia.
This talisman features a 1000 pure silver tribal bead that has been hand-cut and chiseled using traditional methods.

Fairy opal comes from opalised quartz sandstone, which is naturally impregnated with small grains of precious opal. It undergoes a treatment of carbonisation, to create a nature-inspired work of art. Fairy Opal is the only stone we carry that has been altered – we love it because it is so dreamy and colourful… and takes a lot of patience and commitment to create!!

Using expert lapidary equipment, stones are hand-cut and polished at our studio in Kuranda, Far North Queensland. All stones are hand-cut by artisans in Australia.

Using Your Talisman

Can I shower with this talisman?

Absolutely! These pieces are designed for surfers, swimmers, and alike. They can be worn in the shower, and/or when swimming – and the colours will not fade. Our talismans have proven their durability in our rainforest home against the elements of sun, water, humidity, and heat.

How do I care for my crystal talisman?

Platypus Dreaming creations are handcrafted using the highest quality waxed strings on earth. They are designed to be long lasting and with the right care, they will maintain their original shape and colour for years to come. These talismans are water resistant and feel very organic when worn against the skin. All stones have different hardness levels so please be gentle and treat them with the right level of care. Each piece is designed with longevity in mind. We only use silver and/or stainless-steel beads which will never rust or loose colour.

How do I cleanse my crystal talisman?

We recommend a gentle rinse under fresh water – preferably rain or river water. Moonlight also works beautifully, as does smoke, i.e. sage, or Palo Santo. You can also use other crystals to energetically clear your talisman, such as an amethyst cluster. Some crystal talismans benefit from being cleaned regularly as they are carriers of energy. Others, such as moldavite, are independent beings and do not need cleansing. Where do you get your stones from?

We have been travelling the world for 15+ years to source exotic and interesting gemstones. Wherever possible, we travel directly to the source, to develop a first-hand relationship with the people who take the stones from the Earth. This ensures we are familiar with the processes involved when extracting the stones from Earth; and that stones are ethically hand-collected with great respect and care.

How long will it take to arrive?

Items generally ship within 1-3 business days and generally take 2-7 business days in transit for domestic, and 8-20 business days for international. Custom creations may take longer.
