This is a beautiful hand-polished Koroit Queensland Boulder Opal talisman pendant. It has been crafted using an artistic cut and is an opal collector's dream! It is completely natural and one-of-a-kind. It has been handcrafted by us here at Platypus Dreaming in the beautiful rainforests of Kuranda, QLD Australia, Ngunbay Djapukai country. It is part of our Rainforest Spirit collection. This talisman features a 1000 pure silver tribal bead that has been hand-cut and chiseled using traditional methods.

Koroit Opal comes from a particular area in Queensland. They are famous for their deep strong ironstone with stunning patterns and inclusions. It is a type of boulder opal, and is found as part of a host rock, called Boulder ironstone. The opal is distributed throughout the rock. This is what makes Kaya’s job of cutting the opal such a fine art—the opal is “slivered” throughout the stone and ten seconds too long at the wheel can destroy the colour completely! The finished result is boulder ironstone with the precious opal inclusions cut as one piece. It gives an dazzling appearance similar to what you see when you look at the night sky, except that the ‘stars’ in this case are flecks of glorious and intense opal colour.
